Permission was given for GIO’S GIRL to wear a red hood in the preliminaries only, go early to post, mount on the chute and wear earplugs throughout the race.

An enquiry was held into the Start and the withdrawal of GIO’S GIRL, ridden by Harry Kimber, trained by Polly Gundry.

The rider, the trainer and the Starter were interviewed and shown recordings of the start.

It was found that GIO’S GIRL was unruly and was withdrawn by the Starter before the race was started.

Harry Kimber stated that he was aware that the GIO’S GIRL had been withdrawn but was unable to dismount before the start had been effected.

Their explanations were noted.

Approaching the final hurdle RUBY’S REWARD, placed second, veered sharply left-handed despite Ben Jones best efforts bumping SAXTON QUEEN, the winner, which in turn made contact with Danzini (IRE), placed third, causing it to be unbalanced for a stride, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of RUBY'S REWARD.
