The Clerk of the Scales reported that Miss Lorna Brooke, the rider of the winner, SHININSTAR (IRE), trained by John Groucott, had weighed in at 9 stone 11 Ibs having weighed out at 9 stone 9 Ibs. The rider, the trainer's representative and the Clerk of the Scales were interviewed. Miss Brooke was suspended for 3 days for weighing in at 2ib overweight, having had a drink of water.
The Veterinary Officer reported that BOLVING (IRE), placed fourth, and GOLD BONNE RAINE (IRE), which was pulled up, bled from the nose. She further reported that LONGHOUSESIGNORA (IRE), placed third, lost a right hind shoe.
Colin Tizzard's representative reported that RUBY RUSSET, which was pulled up, had a breathing problem.
