Jason Hart the rider of Final Frontier (IRE), drawn 2, was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his horse being slightly slow to start.
Hart’s explanation that the gelding dropped its head as he went to remove the blind, was noted.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Kraken Power (IRE), ridden by Paul Mulrennan and trained by Jim Goldie, which raced just behind the leaders but appearing to lose its position and dropping back to last place before running on to finish a staying on fifth, under a hands and heels ride.
The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
The rider stated having travelled well through the race he found himself stuck behind horses with no room to manoeuvre, having to take off heels for a sustained period, losing both momentum and ground and finding himself further back than he wanted.
The trainer confirmed the instructions that he wanted Mulrennan to get a lead, to get the gelding settled and to give the gelding cover due to the strong head winds present today.
Their explanations were noted.
