Permission was given for Ambitious Icarus (GB), Young Tiger (GB) and Groundworker (IRE) to go early to post.
Approximately 1 furlong after the start, a free-running Optimickstickhill (GB), placed fourth, edged right shifting Spirit of Zebedee (IRE), unplaced, slightly off its intended line, which in turn carried Point Of Woods (GB), unplaced, across the heels of Quduraat (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Optimickstickhill (GB).
The winner, Oriental Splendour (IRE), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Hamilton on 15 May 2019, where the gelding finished sixth of eight, beaten 8 lengths.
Ruth Carr could offer no explanation for Oriental Splendour (IRE)’s improved form, other than the yard appears to be in better form.
Following the race, Kieran O’Neill reported that Optimickstickhill (GB), placed fourth, was denied a clear run approximately 1½ furlongs out.
