- Stewards Report
Permission was given for Fariba (IRE) and Perfect Gentleman (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
The Raceday privilege request for Commission (GB), trained by Marcus Tregoning, to wear a red hood to post was not submitted.
Tregoning was warned as to his responsibility to ensure that all Raceday privilege requests are submitted by 1pm on the day before racing.
Dougie Costello, the rider of Commission (GB), drawn 5, was slow to remove the blindfold.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Costello’s explanation that shortly before the stalls opened Commission (GB) rubbed the hood down over its nose and out of his reach, was noted.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong, involving Vegas Jack (GB), placed second, ridden by Jason Watson, Lunar Landscape (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Charles Bishop and Fariba (FR), placed third, ridden by Richard Kingscote.
The Stewards found that the interference was accidental, as Lunar Landscape (GB) angled for a legitimate gap, at the same time as Vegas Jack (GB) shifted slightly right-handed, despite the rider’s best efforts, causing Bishop to be moved off his intended line and in turn taking Kingscote off his intended line.
Following the race, Harry Davies reported that Perfect Gentleman (IRE), placed fourth, was slow away, Thomas Greatrex reported that Guiteau (FR), unplaced, hung badly right-handed, Jason Watson reported that Vegas Jack (GB), placed second, stumbled leaving the stalls and Charles Bishop reported that Lunar Landscape (GB), placed fifth, was denied a clear run on two occasions from one a half furlongs out.
