An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start involving Hegemon (GB), placed sixth, ridden by Cam Hardie, Caracristi (GB), placed third, ridden by Madi Patzelt and City Vaults (GB), unplaced, ridden by Daniel Tudhope.
Being a 7lb claimer Patzelt was accompanied in the enquiry by a senor rider.
Hardie was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed Hegemon (GB) to drift right towards the rail taking Caracristi (GB) off its intended line, which resulted in Tudhope to take evasive action on City Vaults (GB).
The winner Gurkhali Girl (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Carlisle on 9 August 2022 where the filly finished fifth out of eight, beaten by 5 ½ lengths.
Iain Jardine’s explanation that Gurkhali Girl (IRE) appreciated the step up in trip to 1 mile, from 7 furlongs was noted.
The performance of City Vaults (GB) which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
David O’Meara explanation that the gelding was unsuited by the ground which was officially described as Good to Soft, Soft in places and would prefer a quicker surface and a longer trip was noted.
City Vaults (GB) was routine tested.
