The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr.P.W.Murtagh, that D.E. Hogan, rider of Dorn Rose, attempted to weigh out, without wearing a body protector. He added that the rider was two pounds overweight, when weighed with his body protector. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned and also from Ross O'Sullivan, trainer of Dorn Rose who stated that in the circumstances he would allow the rider to carry two pounds overweight, by permission of the Stewards. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Rule 198(v), in that he attempted to weigh out without a body protector and having considered the evidence and considered his record, suspended him for seven race days. Furthermore the Stewards allowed the request to carry two pounds overweight but found the rider in breach of Rule 198(vii)(a) and having taken his record in this regard into account, fined him ?150. The Stewards interviewed Anastasia O'Brien, rider of Californiadreaming, concerning her use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned and also from A.P.O'Brien, trainer. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f), in that she used the whip with excessive frequency and having considered her record, suspended her for one race day. C.D. Hayes, rider of No Love Letters (GB), trained by A. Oliver, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was very free and difficult throughout and had no more to give in the closing stages.
