Fitzy (GB), trained by Paddy Butler, had arrived in the Parade Ring without his cheekpieces which were then located and fitted on the gelding before going to the start.
After being interviewed, and taking into consideration that there was no delay to the start of the race, Butler was cautioned.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the final bend when Sylviacliffs (FR), placed fifth, ridden by Ben Curtis, interfered with Gold Hunter (IRE), placed third, ridden by Raul Da Silva, which in turn interfered with Isla Skye (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Darragh Keenan.
Curtis was suspended for 3 days for careless riding for allowing his mount to drift left-handed taking Gold Hunter (IRE), which was making a legitimate run in between runners, off its intended line and, as a consequence, Isla Skye (IRE), which was weakening, had to be checked significantly against the rail.
Following the race, George Rooke reported that Fitzy (GB), placed seventh, was very slowly away, and Aled Beech reported that Pharoh Jake (GB), placed sixth, ran too free.
