RACE (CLASS 3) (Qualifier) (GBB RACE) The Stewards drew the riders’ attention to their responsibilities to start the race in a timely fashion once the flag had been dropped.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when the winner, Hometown Hero (IRE), ridden by Bridget Andrews, interfered with Luke (GB), placed second, ridden by Conor O’Farrell.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of Hometown Hero (IRE) as the gelding always appeared to be holding Luke (GB) and Luke (GB) appeared to lose little to no momentum as a result of the interference, as the ground lost by Luke (GB) was less than the winning margin of a neck.
Andrews was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as she allowed her mount to drift left-handed without sufficient correction taking Luke (GB) off its intended line.
