Permission was given for Lucky Face (GB) to be led to post early.
The performance of Deftera Lad (IRE), which started favourite and finished last of the eleven runners, was considered.
Sylvester Kirk’s explanation that, in his opinion, too much use had been made of the gelding in the early stages of the race and Deftera Lad (IRE) would be better suited by being ridden with more restraint, was noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Approaching 3½ furlongs out, Lady Fatma (USA), placed fourth, hung left-handed despite the best efforts of its rider to correct the filly, causing Heart Of A Hunter (FR), placed sixth, to be steadied when short of room on the rail, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Lady Fatma (USA).
Approximately 1½ furlongs out, Billyoakes (IRE), placed fifth, shifted right-handed whilst racing greenly, carrying the winner, Fact Or Fable (IRE), onto Alfie's Angel (IRE), placed eighth, and Lucky Face (GB), unplaced, which were both carried off their intended lines, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Billyoakes (IRE).
Following the race, Ben Robinson reported that Billyoakes (IRE), placed fifth, ran too freely and Stefano Cherchi reported that Lady Fatma (USA), which started joint-second favourite and finished fourth, hung left-handed.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Alfie's Angel (IRE), placed eighth, lost its right-hind shoe.
