The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Commandingpresence, trained by Andrew McNamara, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to have superficial wounds to both hind legs but to be otherwise post race normal
The Raceday Stewards interviewed M.P. O'Connor, rider of Commandingpresence, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he had used his whip unnecessarily after his chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone and he apologised for his actions
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that M. P
O'Connor was in breach of Regulation 10.3.b, the unnecessary use of the whip after his chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone. Having considered his record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended M. P
O'Connor for one raceday
The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident at the end of the back straight involving Benz, ridden by B.W
Harvey, placed fifth, and The Bog Garden, ridden by C.D Smithers, placed sixth, where it appeared that Benz moved out off heels causing The Bog Garden to momentarily check. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
