I thought we weren't coming as the ground was too soft,. We made our mind up at about 2 o'clock as the ground changed from heavy, to soft to heavy, so we said we'd come and see. The Stewards interviewed Mr L. Devery, rider of St Agnes Church, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(b), in that he continued to use the whip after his chance of winning or being placed had gone and having considered his record, suspended him for seven race days.
