An enquiry was held into the false start in this race.

The Clerk of the Course, the Starters, the Advanced Flag Operator, the Veterinary Surgeon, Kieren Fox, Robert Winston, Hollie Doyle, Brett Doyle and Hector Crouch were interviewed.

The Starter reported that stalls 12 to 16 failed to open when the start was effected and immediately called a False Start.

The Starter added that the two bays of stalls were tested together prior to the start of Race 6 and were then separated in order to allow the horses to pass, the bays were then reconnected and the horses loaded, in accordance with standard procedure.

The Starter continued that on further inspection it was found that the catch required to release the mechanism appeared to have failed.

The Stalls were then re-tested and found to be functioning correctly.

All riders correctly pulled up and returned to the start, as required by the recall procedures.

All horses were checked by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, but Star Attraction (FR) was withdrawn on Veterinary Advice.

The Stewards were satisfied that the recall procedures were carried out correctly and took no further action.

Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Hedging (IRE), placed third, lost its right fore shoe and that Brother In Arms (IRE), unplaced, lost its right hind shoe.
