Permission was given for Layla Liz (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference over the final furlong when the winner, Layla Liz (IRE), ridden by Laura Coughlan, interfered with My Mate Beattie (IRE), placed third, ridden by Hector Crouch.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Layla Liz (IRE)’s placing as although there were three separate occasions where My Mate Beattie (IRE) was inconvenienced to varying degrees by the winner, the most significant interference which occurred shortly before the line was initiated by My Mate Beattie (IRE) shifting right-handed and catching the quarters of the winner, causing both fillies to become unbalanced.
Furthermore, the Stewards considered that My Mate Beattie (IRE) always appeared held before ultimately being beaten a neck and a head into third place.
Coughlan was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as she allowed her mount to drift left- handed for some distance whilst continuing to use the whip in her right hand without sufficient correction, resulting in Crouch being impeded and carried off his intended line, before receiving a bump late on.
