David Noonan, the rider of Wavecrest (IRE), placed second, was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above the permitted level from after jumping the second last fence.
The performance of Helford River (GB) which started favourite and finished sixth, was considered.
The representative of Joe Tizzard could offer no explanation for the performance of the gelding, other than Brendan Powell's report that when asked for an effort, Helford River (GB) failed to respond to his urgings and weakened noticeably.
Their comments were noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
