Charlie Deutsch, the rider of Arqalina (IRE), placed fourth, appeared to stop riding shortly before the winning post, before being beaten a short head for third place.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Deutsch was suspended for 7 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing on a horse that could have finished third.
The performance of Colonel Keating (IRE), which started joint-second favourite and finished seventh, was considered.
Richard Rowe’s explanation that the gelding was unsuited by the going, which was officially described as Good to Soft, Soft in Places on this occasion, and would prefer a softer surface, was noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Colonel Keating (IRE), during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, David Bass reported that Agent Memphis (IRE), which was pulled up, stopped quickly.
