The Stewards requested a report from R.P. McNamara, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Lake Takapuna, placed first, as compared with its previous chase run at Limerick on the 14th July. A.J. McNamara, Authorised representative for R.P. McNamara, reported that their charge had only transferred from it's previous trainer a short time before the race at Limerick and appeared to be fit to run but disappointed on the day and was subsequently found to have no post race abnormality when examined by the IHRB Veterinary Officer on duty
Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
An extended handicap steeplechase for four yrs old and upwards (130 = 11st 10lb)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap shall; not be less than 11st 10lb
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each steeplechase won
