Permission was given for Aluqair (IRE) to go early to post; Thornaby Spirit (IRE) wore earplugs throughout the race.
Sephira Park (GB) reared in the parade ring and was briefly loose, before colliding with the running rail.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Officer in the parade ring, and the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, the filly was deemed fit to race.
An enquiry was held into the circumstances surrounding the withdrawal of Sally Hope (GB), ridden by Paul Hanagan, and trained by John Gallagher.
The rider, the trainer and a Racecourse Medical Officer were interviewed.
Hanagan’s explanation was accepted that having unsuccessfully attempted to mount the unraced filly on the first occasion, and in doing so injured his arm, whilst Sally Hope (GB) was being unruly, he felt unable to try for a second time for his own safety.
Hanagan returned to the Medical Room to be assessed and as there was insufficient time to find a replacement rider, Sally Hope (GB) was withdrawn.
