The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages of this race involving Helpmeout, ridden by W.J. Lee, and Scarlet Angel (USA), ridden by C.T. Keane where it appeared Scarlet Angel had to check off heels. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. W. J. Lee stated that his mount was leaning left and then dived in left when he got half a length up. C. T. Keane stated that he had to check off heels. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that any interference which occurred was accidental in nature, and they took no further action

The Stewards requested a report from W. McCreery, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Helpmeout, placed first, as compared with its most recent run. W. McCreery stated that his charge was waited with in rear, got into a good rhythm and had a clear run down the outer to make its challenge. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation

D. McMonagle, rider of Might And Mercy (GB) trained by Noel Meade, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that he had to check in the last furlong

C.T. Keane, rider of Scarlet Angel (USA) trained by G.M.Lyons, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that he had to snatch up in the final furlong

J.M. Sheridan, rider of Aristovic trained by J.F. Levins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount received a bump turning for home

D.P. McDonogh, rider of Portville trained by Kieran P. Cotter, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ducked at the rail turning in
