Leaving the stalls, You're So Sharp (GB), unplaced, jumped right, causing interference to Desert Empire (IRE), unplaced, and Twist And Turn (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held into Jack Mitchell’s riding of BAGUE D’OR (IRE) in the home straight, in which the colt hung left-handed when prominent, before being eased down in the closing stages finishing fifth of ten, beaten by 7¾ lengths.
Mitchell was interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
The rider stated that his mount hung badly left-handed, a fact which he had reported to Scales, and as a result raced awkwardly and was difficult to assist in the home straight.
He added that having relinquished fourth place, he was mindful that if he had continued to ride out to the line BAGUE D’OR (IRE) may have continued to hang left- handed and hamper any runners improving on his inside and as such eased his mount down in the closing stages.
His explanation was noted, however the Stewards reminded him of his obligation to ride out to the line.
