Cameron Noble, the rider of Seven Pockets (IRE), was unseated shortly after the start.

Cameron Noble; Andrea Atzeni, the rider of Civilian (GB), placed third; Dougie Costello, the rider of Agent Saonois (FR), unplaced and Cam Hardie, the rider of Its Time To Shine (IRE), unplaced, were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.

It was found that the incident was accidental and caused by Civilian (GB) ducking quickly left leaving the stalls making contact with Agent Saonois (FR), which in turn tightened Seven Pockets (IRE) against Its Time To Shine (IRE) resulting in Seven Pockets (IRE) clipping heels and unseating Noble.

An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Leroy Brown (GB), ridden by Sam Hitchcott and trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies, which was tenderly handled in the home straight to finish seventh of eight finishers, beaten 51 lengths.

The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race; and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The rider explained that this was Leroy Brown (GB)’s first run out of the stalls and missed the break very badly.

He added that he was further affected by the unseating of Cameron Noble from Seven Pockets (IRE) in front of him, resulting in him being a considerable distance behind the other runners with a loose horse in front of him.

He further stated that he was concerned that he might not be able to pass the loose horse without incident and being on a one-paced jump horse, he felt it prudent to let the gelding come home in its own time.

His explanation was noted.

Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Civilian (GB), placed third, lost its right fore shoe.
