Permission was given for Alfies Watch (GB) to go early to post.
The winner, Holdenhurst (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Lingfield Park on 19 June 2021 where the gelding finished last of the nine runners, beaten by 18 lengths on Heavy ground.
Bill Turner’s explanation that Holdenhurst (GB) had benefited from the better ground, which was officially described as Good on this occasion, was noted.
Holdenhurst (GB) was routine tested.
Inside the final furlong, Purple Sandpiper (GB), placed eighth, lugged right-handed, carrying Hotcity (GB), placed seventh, onto Tally's Son (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Purple Sandpiper (GB).
Following the race, Ciaran McKee reported that Alfies Watch (GB), unplaced, was slowly away and Darragh Keenan reported that Purple Sandpiper (GB), placed eighth, hung right-handed.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Three Card Trick (GB), placed fifth, lost its right-fore shoe.
