I said to Kevin beforehand that the other horses were likely to go mad (fast) on the ground. I hadn't him as ready as I had him going to Tramore and I said to Kevin to ride him to run well and he is a genius at doing that. . He tipped around, never panicked, came home well and you could see that the leaders were starting to walk coming to the last. I thought the two miles would be too sharp for him, but he is a great horse who has now won five races and retains his enthusiasm as a 12 year old. . Kevin has come back from injuries and is a great rider who deserves his chance.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed M.P. O'Connor, rider of Itwasfate (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. M.P. O'Connor stated that it was a misjudgement on his behalf and apologised. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that M.P.O'Connor was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g)(frequency)(first offence) and having taken his previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards suspended him for 1 raceday

Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each steeplechase won.
