The riders and the Starter were interviewed and recordings of the start were shown.

All the riders were suspended for 1 day for misconduct at the start except for Mr Harley Dunne, Mr Noel George, Mr Michael Legg, Mr N McParlan, Miss Gina Andrews and Miss Lucy Turner.

An enquiry was held to consider whether Mr J C Barry, the rider of Drumconnor Lad (IRE), which fell at the last fence, had continued in the race when it appeared to be contrary to the horse’s welfare.

The rider and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed and recordings of the incident were viewed.

The Veterinary Officer who examined Drumconnor Lad (IRE) at the last fence, reported that the gelding was recumbent for four to five minutes and appeared to be very tired but when it got to its feet exhibited a heart rate within the normal parameters.

Upon a second examination on returning to the stables Drumconnor Lad (IRE) exhibited stiffness and tiredness.

Mr Barry was suspended for 12 days as he had continued in the race when it was contrary to the horse’s welfare.

Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Livelovelaugh (IRE), unplaced, lost its left fore shoe, Uhlan Bute (FR), unplaced, lost its left fore shoe and Its All Guesswork (IRE), unplaced, finished lame on its left fore.
