An enquiry was held to consider why Eve Johnson Houghton was running Buto (GB) here at Epsom on going described as Good, Good to Firm in places, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Goodwood on 25 August 2019 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer’s representative stated that after walking the track this morning they felt that the ground was not as quick as Goodwood and were therefore happy for Buto (GB) to take its chance today.
Following the race, Jim Boyle reported that Bonus (GB), unplaced, was unsuited by the undulating track and Gary Moore reported that Scallywagtail (IRE), unplaced, was unsuited by the undulating track.
