Permission was given for Defence Treaty (IRE), Robert Walpole (GB) and Cote d'Azur (GB) to go early to post and for Mutaraafeq (IRE) to go early to post and be mounted on the chute.
Adam McNamara, the rider of Apex King (IRE), drawn 1, was slow to remove the blindfold, resulting in the gelding being slowly away.
McNamara’s explanation that the blindfold was tucked in tightly due to Apex King (IRE) having a history of shaking it off prematurely and it failed to release cleanly on his first attempt to remove, was noted.
Following the race, Erika Parkinson reported that Finery (GB), placed fourth, hung left-handed in the home straight.
John Egan reported that Back From Dubai (IRE), unplaced, lost its action and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
