The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident inside the final two furlongs involving Jakajaro, ridden by L.T
McAteer, placed fifth, and Military (GB), ridden by R.L. Moore, placed fourth, where it appeared that contact was made between both a number of times. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, R.L. Moore stated that he received a bump from Jakajaro at approximately the two furlong point. L.T. McAteer stated that when he moved off heels his mount overreacted to his signals. He further stated that his mount ran around thereafter and concluded by saying that his mount is a difficult ride. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that L.T. McAteer, was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard (fourth offence),they suspended him for twelve racedays.
