Prior to this race, Ed Walker was asked to explain why he was running True Scarlet (IRE) here at Doncaster on going described as Soft, having reported that the filly was unsuited by the Soft going at Newbury on 23 October 2021 and would prefer a quicker surface.

Walker’s representative explained that this was True Scarlet (IRE)’s last opportunity to gain Black Type form before going to the sales and they were therefore happy for the filly to take its chance.

Permission was given for Zawara (IRE), Glenartney (GB) and Lady Hayes (IRE) to all wear a red hood to the start.

The Raceday privilege request in relation to Via Sistina (IRE), trained by Joseph Tuite, was late being submitted.

Tuite was warned as to his responsibility to ensure that all Raceday privilege requests are submitted by 1pm on the day before racing.

Just inside 3 furlongs out, Arriviste (GB), unplaced, was steadied and switched right to avoid the heels of a weakening National Treasure (IRE), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

Approaching 2 furlongs out, Via Sistina (IRE), unplaced, shifted right to avoid the heels of a rapidly weakening Kaleidoscopic (GB), unplaced, and in so doing caused slight interference to True Scarlet (IRE), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 2 furlongs out involving Flying West (GB), unplaced, ridden by Adam Farragher and Via Sistina (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Jamie Spencer.

Farragher was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to lug left-handed for some distance without timely correction causing Spencer to take a significant check in order to avoid his heels.

The winner, Vesela (GB), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at York on 19 August 2021, where the filly finished eighth of eleven, beaten 9¾ lengths.

Ralph Beckett explained that Vesela (GB) had freshened up after a 79-day break.

The filly was routine tested.

Following the race, Hollie Doyle reported that True Scarlet (IRE), unplaced, hung right in the home straight.

Silvestre De Sousa reported that Kaleidoscopic (GB), unplaced, moved poorly and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Adam Farragher reported that Flying West (GB), unplaced, rolled around under pressure in the home straight and Jamie Spencer reported that Via Sistina (IRE), unplaced, suffered interference in running.
