The winner, Supreme Escape (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Chepstow on 20 November 2020 where the gelding finished seventh of the eight finishers, beaten by 31½ lengths on Soft ground.
Evan Williams explained that Supreme Escape (IRE) had stripped fitter for its previous start which was its first since a 257 day break as well as it being the gelding’s first run over fences under rules, adding that Supreme Escape (IRE) may also have benefitted from the testing conditions on this occasion, with the going officially described as Heavy, Soft in places.
His explanations were noted.
