The performance of Cheddleton (GB), which started second-favourite and finished fourth, beaten by 51 lengths, was considered.
It was noted that the representative of Jennie Candlish could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance, other than the report from the Veterinary Officer’s examination post-race during routine testing which revealed Cheddleton (GB) to have bled from the nose.
Following the race, Danny McMenamin reported that Pay The Piper (IRE), which was pulled up, hung left-handed throughout and the Veterinary Officer examined the gelding post-race and had nothing to report.
