Kevin Jones, the rider of the winner, Away For Slates (IRE), was suspended for 2 days for using his whip without giving his mount time to respond after the last fence.
The winner, Away For Slates (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Fakenham on 28 January 2021, where the gelding finished fifth of eight, beaten 26 lengths on heavy ground.
Milton Harris’ representative’s explanation that the gelding was suited by the faster surface (Good to Soft) was noted.
Away For Slates (IRE) was routine tested.
At the open ditch on the first circuit, Demopolis (FR), placed second, jumped sharply right colliding with Right Hand Of God (GB), placed third, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Demopolis (FR).
