Prior to this race, Neil Mulholland was asked to explain the reason why he was running Carrigmoorna Matt (IRE) here at Uttoxeter on going described as Heavy (Soft in Places), having reported that the gelding would prefer a quicker surface following its run at Taunton on 2 February 2019, where the going was officially described as Soft.
Mulholland explained that, in his opinion, Taunton had been riding tacky and considered the surface here today at Uttoxeter would be looser after recent rainfall and that Carrigmoorna Matt (IRE) should appreciate the return to a left-handed track.
Following the race, Lucy Gardner reported that Woulduadamandeveit (IRE), which was pulled up, ran flat and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding during routine testing revealed it to have bled from the nose.
