Having reviewed recordings of the false start, the Starters were satisfied that no riders should be reported for contravening the starting procedures.
The winner Ali Star Bert (GB) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Doncaster on 10 January 2023 when the gelding finished seventh of nineteen beaten 35 lengths and also the gelding’s previous run here at Uttoxeter when Ali Star Bert (GB) was pulled up.
The Stewards noted the explanation given by Shaun Harris that the gelding had benefitted from being ridden more positively on this occasion having jumped very slowly on its chase debut here on 31st December.
He added that Ali Star Bert (GB) had regained his confidence after running over hurdles at Doncaster on his latest run.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Kaphumor (FR), which was pulled up, had bled from the nose.
Having reviewed the start the Stewards were satisfied that High Counsel (IRE) had refused to race and was deemed to be a runner.
