Permission was given for Juanita (GB) to go early to the start and for Kaswarah (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start.

Leaving the stalls, Kaswarah (IRE), unplaced, jumped sharply right-handed giving a bump to Ellie Piper (GB), placed fifth, who became tight for room which in turn gave a bump to Sky Storm (GB), unplaced, and Amalfi Gem, unplaced, moving both off their intended lines, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.

An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the final furlong, involving the winner, Pokhara (IRE), ridden by Kaiya Fraser, Master Sully (GB), placed second, ridden by Mollie Phillips, Pollinate (GB), placed sixth, ridden by Callum Hutchinson and Ellie Piper (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Harry Burns.

Phillips was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as she allowed her mount to drift right-handed under a left-hand drive without timely correction, giving a bump to Pokhara (IRE), who as a result moved Pollinate (GB) towards the rail onto Ellie Piper (GB), causing Burns to take a check for a stride as a result.

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving the winner, Pokhara (IRE), ridden by Kaiya Fraser and Master Sully (GB), placed second ridden by Mollie Phillips.

The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Pokhara (IRE)’s placing as the filly had come from behind Master Sully (GB) after suffering interference from that horse approaching the final furlong, before shifting slightly left-handed, intimidating Master Sully (GB) slightly off its line, who appeared to lose little momentum as a result, with Pokhara (IRE) winning by a distance of a neck at the line.

The interference was found to be accidental as Pokhara (IRE) shifted both quickly and slightly left-handed.

The Clerk of the Scales objected to Kaswarah (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Gina Mangan on the grounds of the rider weighing in at 8st 12.

5 lbs having weighed out at 9st 0.

Kaswarah (IRE), was disqualified.

The rider, John O’Shea, the trainer, the representative of the trainer and the Clerk of the Scales were interviewed.

As the Stewards were unable to establish an explanation for the weigh difference, Mangan was suspended for 1 day and O’Shea was fined £250.

The winner, Pokhara (IRE) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Yarmouth on 26 July 2022 where the filly finished sixth, beaten 4¼ lengths.

Kevin Philippart de Foy’s explanation that the filly had improved with each run this year, after a long break, and that it was its first run in a Handicap race, in which a strongly run pace had allowed it to run from behind, was noted.

Pokhara (IRE) was routine tested.

Following the race, Callum Hutchinson reported that Pollinate (GB), placed sixth, hung badly right-handed and Mollie Phillips reported that Master Sully (GB), placed second, hung right-handed off the bend.
