An enquiry was held to consider two incidents of interference shortly after leaving the stalls, involving Red Walls (GB), placed third, ridden by Harrison Shaw; Morty (GB), placed second, ridden by Sean Levey and Mehmo (IRE), unplaced, ridden by William Buick.
In the first incident, shortly after the start, Shaw was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left without timely correction, resulting in Levey taking a slight check on Morty (GB).
In the second incident, riding into the first bend, Buick appeared to ease Mehmo (IRE) for several strides but the Stewards were satisfied that no interference had taken place and Buick was easing in anticipation of the runners on his outside moving towards the inside rail.
The winner, Expert Opinion (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Bath on 3 May 2021 where the gelding finished seventh of nine, beaten 10½ lengths.
Henry Spiller’s explanation that the gelding was better suited by the All-Weather surface and was unsuited by the rain affected Good to Firm ground at Bath, was noted.
Expert Opinion (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Miss Fernanda (IRE), unplaced, had lost her left-fore shoe.
