Permission was given for You're Cool (GB) to go early to post.
Upon leaving the stalls, Bobby On The Beat (IRE), unplaced, became short of room between the winner, Sir Hector (IRE) and Blazing Hot (GB), placed second, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of either Sir Hector (IRE) or Blazing Hot (GB).
Upon leaving the back straight, Blazing Hot (GB), placed second, moved marginally off its line which caused Barrington (IRE), placed fifth, to move left-handed resulting in Tomshalfbrother (GB), placed third, having to take a precautionary check when against the rail, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Blazing Hot (GB).
Just inside the final ½ furlong, Bobby On The Beat (IRE), unplaced, made contact with the hindquarters of Cometh The Man (IRE), placed eighth, having been moved slightly off its line by Frosted Angel (IRE), placed seventh, which having been corrected from drifting right, moved left despite the riders best efforts.
This resulted in both Bobby On The Beat (IRE) and Cometh The Man (IRE) becoming unbalanced and Bobby On The Beat (IRE) having no clear run through to the line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Frosted Angel (IRE).
The winner, Sir Hector (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Chelmsford City on 13 December 2021 where the gelding finished ninth of ten runners, beaten by 10 lengths.
It was noted that Charlie Wallis could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Sir Hector (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Daniel Muscutt reported that Cometh The Man (IRE), placed eighth, ran green.
