Permission was given for Jean Mary (GB) to go early to post.

The raceday privilege request in relation to Scudamore (FR), trained by Ivan Furtado, was late being submitted.

Furtado was warned as to his responsibility to ensure that all raceday privilege requests are submitted before 1pm on the day before racing.

The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Scudamore (FR) which had never previously been placed, was considered.

Ivan Furtado was interviewed.

He explained that the gelding had been a backward, slow maturing type after arriving from France and also strengthened up during a 285 day break.

He further indicated that Scudamore (FR) had worked well at the course previously, and appeared to relish the Fibresand surface, which was riding deep and suits his high knee action.

His comments were noted and the gelding was routine tested.

The performance of Villanelle (GB), which started favourite and was eased down from approaching the final furlong, before finishing eighth of nine, beaten by 58¼ lengths was considered.

The representative of Jonathan Portman could offer no explanation for the filly’s performance, other than the rider had reported that Villanelle (GB) had run flat and stopped quickly on this occasion.

The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Following the race, Edward Greatrex reported that JACK D’OR, placed seventh, was never travelling.

On 27/04/2021 the trainer Jonathan Portman reported that Villanelle (GB) was found to have a snotty nose.
