A query was raised to consider why David O’Meara, was running Al Qaasim (IRE) here at Ayr on going described as Good to Firm, Good in places, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Beverley on 14 April 2021 on ground with the same official description.
The representative of David O’Meara stated that having walked the course at Beverley, they did not agree with the official going description and thought the ground was riding quicker than described.
Having walked the course at Ayr today, he stated that in his opinion, the ground was indeed as described and was therefore happy for Al Qaasim (IRE) to take his chance.
Approaching the final furlong Caballero (IRE), placed second, edged left-handed taking Class Clown (IRE), placed fifth, off its intended line and in turn causing the rider of Al Qaasim (IRE), placed sixth, to take a slight check, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Caballero (IRE).
Following the race, David Nolan reported that Al Qaasim (IRE), placed sixth, was denied a clear run inside the final furlong.
