The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident between the 4 and 5 furlong markers involving Freedom Ring, ridden by A.J. Slattery, Ribchestina, ridden by R.C. Colgan, Time'll Tell (GB), ridden by C.D. Maxwell, and Travel Candy, ridden by C. Ngcobo where it appeared Freedon Ring was taken of its line clipping a heel as a result. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. A.J. Slattery stated that he got tight for room and clipped a heel. R.C. Colgan stated that his filly got intimidated and took a sidestep to the left. C.D. Maxwell stated that he heard a shout when he was trying to check off heels. C. Ngcobo stated that he was trying to keep his filly straight after she became unbalanced. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and they took no further action
A.J. Slattery, rider of Freedom Ring, trained by Andrew Slattery, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got tight for room causing him to clip a heel inside the first furlong and a half
C. Ngcobo, rider of Travel Candy, trained by Kevin Thomas Coleman, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount made a noise in running.
