Permission was given for Granary Queen (IRE) to go early to post and wear a red hood, and for Hector Loza (GB) to go early to post.
The winner, State Secretary (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Chelmsford on 9 August 2022 where the gelding finished eighth of ten, beaten by 5 ¾ lengths.
Stuart William's representative explained that State Secretary (IRE) had benefitted from the application of a first-time visor; his explanation was noted.
Following the race, Hector Crouch reported that Amathus (IRE), unplaced, moved poorly; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
