Grancore Girl is widely respected as a leading bumper mare around at the moment and her form was further franked here when Flirting Around landed the second bumper on the card. Sean Tracey's charge was third to the recent winner at the beginning of the month and went on to claim a bumper of her own here when taking on the boys rather than sticking to her own sex in the proceeding contest.
She will now go to the Punchestown festival and it will be interesting to see how she fairs out there and how the form of this contest holds up with Shinan Thyne another interesting one to look out for.
Paul Nolan's charge was a recruit from the point-to-point ranks where he had finished second last November and he had one previous racecourse appearance when failing to land a blow in a maiden hurdle at Wexford but if the form of the aforementioned Grancore Girl is anything to go by, Shinan Thyne will be well capable of landing a similar event in due course and it must be noted the ground had got on the tacky side by the time this race came around.
Another mare took the bronze medal when Definite Deploy finished just less than five-lengths off the winner in what was a promising racecourse debut. Again the tacky ground may not have helped her cause and this race was over 2m2f and a drop back to 2m may see her open her account.
Good Time Bob was eventually sent off favourite to give Philip Fenton a final race double but he really failed to land a blow which was disappointing considering his prior experience.
