An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following interference inside the final half furlong involving the winner, Lion Face (IRE), ridden by Trevor Whelan, Evaluation (GB), placed second, ridden by Richard Kingscote, and Restitution (FR), placed third, ridden by Oisin Murphy.
The interference was found to be accidental as Lion Face (IRE) had ducked right-handed away from the whip at the same time as Evaluation (GB) had shifted left-handed, before being corrected by their riders, causing Restitution (FR) to be checked by Murphy for a number of strides.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of either Lion Face (IRE) or Evaluation (GB) as both horses appeared to be going better than Restitution (FR) at the time of the interference, with a length and a half and three and a half lengths between them at the line.
