Permission was given for Newyorkstateofmind (GB) to be mounted in the chute and to go early to post, for Mellys Flyer (GB) to be mounted in the chute and for Murbih (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Shortly after leaving the stalls, the winner, Mellys Flyer (GB), lugged left-handed carrying Newyorkstateofmind (GB), placed fourth, off its intended line, making light contact with Giselles Izzy (IRE), unplaced, on several occasions, causing it to be come unbalanced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Mellys Flyer (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider interference for some distance after passing the 5 furlong marker involving the winner, Mellys Flyer (GB), ridden by Marco Ghiani and Westmorian (GB), placed third, ridden by Sam James.
The interference was found to be accidental as a Ghiani had been unable to prevent a hard pulling Mellys Flyer (GB) from improving inside the heels of Westmorian (GB) which edged slightly left- handed resulting in Mellys Flyer (GB) becoming very awkwardly placed to the inside of that runner for some distance.
Following the race, Cam Hardie reported that Murbih (IRE), placed second, was restless in the stalls and hung right-handed under pressure.
