The Stewards interviewed R.P. Downey, rider of Sleepy Head, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found R.P. Downey to be in breach of regulation 10.3 (f) in that he hit his horse with excessive frequency. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards cautioned R.P. Downey regarding his future responsibilities. The Stewards interviewed G.P. Halpin, rider of Mostawfee, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found G.P. Halpin to be in breach of regulation 10.3 (f) in that he hit his horse with excessive frequency. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards suspended G.P. Halpin for 1 raceday.
