Permission was given for Laheg (FR) to wear a red hood to post and for Tolstoy (IRE) to be mounted in the chute.
Leaving the stalls, the winner Count Otto (IRE), shifted left before being corrected causing JACK’S POINT, unplaced, Dora Penny (GB), unplaced and Lequinto (IRE), unplaced, all to become crowded for room but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Count Otto (IRE).
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the first bend involving JACK’S POINT, unplaced, ridden by George Downing and Dora Penny (GB), unplaced, ridden by David Probert.
Downing was cautioned for careless riding as he shifted left-handed when insufficiently clear of Dora Penny (GB), causing Probert to take a precautionary check.
The winner Count Otto (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Kempton on 15 February 2023 where the gelding finished ninth out of ten runners, beaten 10 lengths.
Amanda Perretts’ representative’s explanation that Count Otto (IRE) stripped fitter for its previous two runs after a 270 day break, along with the return to Lingfield where it is a previous course and distance winner was noted and the gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Andrea Atzeni reported that Lequinto (IRE), unplaced, hung left-handed and Tom Queally reported that Crimson Sand (IRE), unplaced, ran too free.
