Prior to this race, John O'Shea was asked to explain why he was running Swiper (IRE) here at Chepstow on going described as Good to Firm, having reported that the gelding was unsuited by the Good to Firm going and would prefer a slower surface at Chepstow on 12 July 2019.
The trainer’s explanation was noted that Swiper (IRE) was making its debut for the yard on that occasion and on reflection he thought the gelding should be able to handle Good to Firm going, and with the going additionally having changed throughout the week after receiving some rainfall he was therefore willing to run Swiper (IRE) on the ground again.
Permission was given for Aquarius (IRE), Glamorous Crescent (GB) and Sepahi (GB) to go early to post.
Following the race, Kieran Shoemark reported that Princess Florence (IRE), unplaced, lost its action; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.
