The winner, Compton Poppy (GB), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Bath on 3 July 2019 where the mare finished seventh of ten, beaten by 8¼ lengths.
Tony Carroll’s explanation that Compton Poppy (GB) had benefitted from the application of the first-time blinkers and appears to enjoy running at Chepstow, was noted.
Compton Poppy (GB) was routine tested.
Approaching the 2 furlong marker, Broadhaven Dream (IRE), placed second, hung left-handed despite the rider’s efforts to correct the gelding, causing Quantum Dot (IRE), placed seventh, to be short of room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Broadhaven Dream (IRE).
Following the race, Jimmy Quinn reported that Silverrica (IRE), placed sixth, slipped leaving the stalls, David Probert reported that Broadhaven Dream (IRE), which started favourite and finished second, hung badly left-handed, Pat Cosgrave reported that Quantum Dot (IRE), placed seventh, suffered interference 2 furlongs out and Callum Shepherd reported that Glamorous Rocket (IRE), placed fifth, was denied a clear run.
