The Raceday Stewards interviewed both J.A. Heffernan and K.K. Hennessy, riders of Martinstown and Londoner, both trained by A.P.O'Brien, in this race regarding the fact that they failed to present themselves to weigh out 15 minutes prior to the off time of this race as required under the provisions of Rule 196. In their evidence, J.A
Heffernan stated that he presented himself at the scales at 5.31 and K.K. Hennessy stated that he presented at 5.32
Both riders explained that they travelled together, left in plenty time but met with heavy traffic at numerous points of their journey including a 45 minute delay at the Drogheda toll bridge. Having considered all the evidence the Raceday Stewards extended the time fixed for them to weigh out and noted their explanations.
