B.J. Cooper, rider of Hesbeengoodtome trained by Thomas Cooper, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was almost brought down when the horse in front of him fell. The Stewards interviewed I.J. McCarthy, rider of Vintage Supreme, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3.(e),in that he had used his whip other that down the shoulder or the hind quarters and having considered his excellent record, the Stewards cautioned him.
