An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, Stopnsearch (GB) (IRE), ridden by Kieran Shoemark, Coase (GB), placed third, ridden by Franny Norton and Busby (IRE), placed second, ridden by Dale Swift.

After hearing evidence from all three riders and viewing recordings of the incident, it was established that Norton had committed for and obtained a legitimate gap between Stopnsearch (GB) (IRE) and Busby (IRE) near the 1 furlong marker, when approximately 2 lengths down on Stopnsearch (GB) (IRE).

Thereafter, Coase (GB) raced tight for some distance with Busby (IRE) on its outside, but Norton continued to challenge strongly between runners despite suffering sustained intimidation from Stopnsearch (GB) (IRE) drifting right-handed into its path, before ultimately being forced to take a severe check after running out of racing room when only a diminishing long head margin behind Stopnsearch (GB) (IRE), which in turn caused Coase (GB) to make heavy contact with the hindquarters of Busby (IRE), which lost its backend and became badly unbalanced as a result.

The Stewards considered that had the interference not occurred Coase (GB) would have finished in front of Stopnsearch (GB) (IRE) and therefore revised the placings accordingly: First, Busby (IRE), Second, Coase (GB), Third, Stopnsearch (GB) (IRE).

Shoemark was suspended for 4 days for careless riding after having allowed his mount to drift several horse widths right-handed without sufficient or timely correction, resulting in Coase (GB) being significantly checked and losing its rightful running, which in turn badly hampered Busby (IRE).

Following the race, David Probert reported that Arcadian Nights (GB), placed fifth, ran too freely and Daniel Muscutt reported that Le Reveur (IRE), placed fourth, was reluctant to jump away from the stalls and hung left-handed under pressure.
